Making the Best of Your Car with Car Parts and Supplies Air Freshener

Introduction to Car Parts and Supplies -- Fantastic Air Freshener

Air fresheners for cars have become enormously popular, and even when you have your car cleaned or detailed you have a wide variety of choices of “scent” to have sprayed in the interior. Often these are the same scents you might encounter when you buy an air freshener for your home, but you also have scents available like leather and new car scent.

Giving Your Car a Once Over

Remember that an air freshener is just that: a way to make the air seem cleaner. The first thing you should consider when freshening your air is to replace it. Open the windows or doors first and let some outside air in (as long as you’re not a highly polluted city, that is). Then if you have a spray freshener, spray it before you get in the car—the droplets from a spray can are often eye, nose, and throat irritants. And remember not to spray too much—again, the irritants can make your eyes and breathing passages sting.

One popular way to use air freshener in your car is to use specially designed car air fresheners. You can find ones that hang from your mirror, stick on your dashboard, and even clip into vents. Some come in cans, and you can open them and place in a glove compartment or console. Again, remember not to use strong scents—they can make people in the car uncomfortable and fight with perfumes, aftershaves, and colognes.

Also remember that some people are highly allergic to scents of all kinds, and you would not want your passengers coughing and sneezing. That’s not “fresh air” to them. Be considerate and keep the scents light if you use them at all. You may find the scents like “leather” and “new car” may cause fewer allergic reactions. Floral scents often make people with hay fever sneeze even though they are synthetic scents, and some scents will even give people headaches if they are too strong.

Some Final Thoughts

Although scents can cause some trouble with some people, having a clean and pleasant smelling car is like adding a finishing touch to your wash and dry. You can buy some nice scents at the auto parts store, and you should even be able to find car scents at the grocery or convenience stores as well. But remember—the best thing you can do to keep your car smelling nice is to keep it clean. No amount of air freshener is going to fix the stale odors from the collection of French fries your kids dropped on the floor of the back seat. Clean it first.
